Foreign Pilots

Just to make sure all goes well, start the conversion process about
three months before entering the US.

If you have a foreign license issued by a member state of ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization),
you can easily get a special private pilot's license to fly in the United States and to hire a U.S. registered
aircraft. Naturally, you will also have to carry your own license, and the rules on the US license will be
the same as those on your foreign license.

Follow these steps:

1.

Fill out the form at:
http://www.faa.gov/licenses_certificates/airmen_certification/media/verify61-75.pdf

2.

Send the form with the documents the form requires to:
Airmen Certification Branch,
AFS-760,PO BOX 25082,
Oklahoma City,
OK 73125-0082
or fax the form and documents to: +1 (405) 954-9922.

The FAA will need 45-60 days to confirm your license.
It will then send you a letter when approved.

3.

Bring the following to any flight standards district office.

1. Your license
2. A current medical certificate
3. The letter from FAA Oklahoma City.
4. Another picture ID (passport is most common)

You can get a list of flight standards district offices at:
